Are you using compass?
As you are aware Catholic Education Tasmania has moved to a new student record system called Compass. The Compass Program allows us to communicate with families directly through the Compass Parent Portal. The Compass Parent Portal is now our main communication tool. All parents will need to download the Compass App and ensure they are able to login.
Thank you to those families who have already taken up the Compass App and are successfully engaging with it and our school.

I have recently read the students’ mid year school reports and I am impressed by the growth of each child no matter their starting point. When we view each human being as created in the image of God, we respect their journey in life, and the school journey is part of this. The staff at OLOL are committed to supporting each child and their learning regardless of where that starting point may be and we also celebrate the growth that each child makes over their school years.
Reflected in the reports are the Key Learning Areas as well as social and emotional learning. It is known that social and emotional development can significantly enhance student self-perceptions, school connectedness, positive social behaviours, school grades, while reducing problem behaviours. And so this plays an important if not essential part in the child’s learning as it directly impacts the other learning areas. Over recent years OLOL has intentionally focused on the development of each student’s social and emotional learning via: Wellbeing, RULER identification of feelings and strategies to support these; RUMBLES identification of connection to school and others; as well as Monday afternoons with a focus on social and emotional learning in every class with targeted activities.
Daily positive interactions within a community are critical for human beings’ success in life and within a school community these interactions become essential learning to assist interactions later in life. I thank all parents for working with us as their children learn to navigate the sometimes tricky social environment that we live and work in as human beings.
Congratulations to all students on the progress in their learning. Thank you to all parents who continue to engage positively with OLOL in partnership to ensure the flourishing of their children.

Collection of Children
Can parents please make contact with the school if there are people, relatives or friends that are not permitted to collect children or if they come on site is a concern for families.
Reports & Parent-Teacher Conferences
Reports will be available on the Compass parent portal on Tuesday 29th June from 3pm. Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Thursday 1st July. Parent-teacher meetings can be booked via the Compass parent portal from 3pm on Tuesday 15th June.
Early Childhood Cross Country Carnival - Week 9
All spectators are welcome to attend, however must stand behind the fence as the course is spread throughout our school grounds.

Kinder 2022
Enrolments for Kinder 2022 are now closed. Parents are welcome to still enrol but will have to go on our wait list. Current parents of OLOL need to enrol as soon as possible for Kinder 2022, as interviews are currently taking place.
Catholic Education Transportation Survey
We want to know how to improve student transport. Please take five minutes to let us know what you think about how students get to and from school. The review will also be looking at the attitudes families and students have towards bus transportation and reasons why they may or may not use bus transportation.

Medical Students
If your Child suffers from Asthma, the Office requires Asthma Medical Plans that are signed and provided by a Doctor for 2021. Please provide to the Office if required. All other Medical plans need to be for the current year. Could current medical plans be bought into the office as soon as possible please.
Tasmanian Premier's Reading Challenge - (Monday April 26 - Friday July 2)
It’s the home stretch of the Challenge and we hope our students have enjoyed being part of the 2021 Premier’s Reading Challenge and reading up a storm!
The 10 week Challenge will come to an end next Friday 2nd July.
Completed logs can be handed to their teacher or Mrs Marshall in the Library by Friday 2nd July . All students participating in the Challenge go into the draw to win a school visit from Hawka. Students who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate from the Premier and go into the draw to win a $100 book voucher.
