THE SISTERS OF ST JOSEPH
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School officially opened in January, 1891, when three Sisters took up residence in the sandstone cottage which still stands at 81 Steele Street. One room of the cottage became a school room under the direction of the first principal, Sr Francis McCarthy. Although there are no longer any Sisters of St Joseph formally working at our school, we continue to have close contact with Sr Carmel Jones, a past Principal. As well as maintaining our connection to the Sisters of St Joseph through Sr Carmel, we run our Junior Joeys program and embed the Josephite Values into all aspects of school life.
125 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
2016 marked the 125th Year Anniversary, or the quasquicentennial of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. To commemorate this significant occasion we created a free iBook that gathers the contents of the original Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School Centenary Magazine. Contents, from the past 25 years into one interactive digital book. The book aims to inspire all members of our school community to reflect upon, record and share our story. The digital book is available for download via iBooks.
